Hello, my name is Dr. Gregory Conard. I would like to introduce myself as the proud new owner of Mission Animal Hospital.
Animal husbandry has been an ever present part of life. As a child, my family kept horses, goats, dogs and cats in the rural area of Toms River, NJ. There was always some animal-centered activity to focus on as a kid, and though hard work at times, the experience was always rewarding. During college, my focus was biology, microbiology and biochemistry. There were many ideas and directions I thought about pursuing, but the family influence toward the veterinary medical profession was strong. My sister and her husband were local veterinarians. I frequented their small animal hospital and spent hours assisting with medical and surgical procedures. From then on, I was hooked on helping owners take better care of their furry friends.
I earned a Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine at Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine in 2001. My professional career started in the coastal Boston suburbs where I owned and operated a small animal veterinary hospital for several years. During that time I also worked with The Animal Rescue League of Boston and other non-profit organizations with the common interest of reducing animal suffering and over-population.
In 2011, I sold my practice in Boston and relocated to Southern California. After a four year search for the ideal coastal town, I have found my home in Ventura! Here I feel a strong sense of community and am able to pursue my life long interests of surfing, mountain biking and boating. Purchasing Mission Animal Hospital in March 2015 allows me to bridge my personal and professional goals of becoming an active community member that makes a difference while enjoying the ultimate lifestyle. So whether we meet in the water, on the trail or through an appointment at the Hospital, I look forward to making your acquaintance.
